About the role

  • As an IoT Engineering Placement you will work with cross-functional development teams and gain real-life experience in the technologies which will shape our future. You will have an opportunity to contribute to live projects and learn how new product/system concepts are rapidly prototyped to meet customer needs and build new business opportunities .

The successful candidates will have an opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on real-world IoT projects including:

  • Embedded software design

Qualification

Experience/ Qualifications:

  • You must have successfully completed 2 years of an honours degree relating to Electronics, Software Design, System Design, Wireless Communications, Computer Science, Data Engineering or similar.
  • You must have demonstrated interest in technology outside of study requirements (e.g. hobbies, clubs, home projects which show hands-on experience in a relevant area of engineering)
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or related discipline
  • Strong interest in IoT, embedded systems, or connected devices
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers (Arduino, STM32, etc.) or single-board computers (Raspberry Pi)
  • Understanding of basic electronics (e.g., sensors, circuits)
  • Eagerness to learn, experiment, and contribute to real projects
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present and explain technical concepts
  • Experience with IoT communication protocols (MQTT, HTTP, BLE)
  • Familiarity with debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, JTAG interfaces
  • Hands-on experience with lab-based prototyping and soldering
  • Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS and Azure
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git)
