Role DescriptionThe Associate will join our London office as a member of the Manager Data team. This individual will be a key part of a newly established and growing team responsible for critical investment manager data. Responsibilities include ensuring the maintenance of key fund exposure data, whilst identifying and creating new analytics to support the wider team. The Associate will also focus on trading term setup for new and existing investment products, including third-party vendor oversight and governance of key data items.
The Manager Data Team is responsible for:
- Institutionalizing manager data and analytics in support of our investment team, including proprietary managed vehicles
- Ensuring that the data required to support our investment programs is complete, current, accessible, and maintained in systems with a high degree of accuracy
- Leveraging third-party technology and service providers to maximize data coverage and timeliness
- Working with the firm's central Data Management Team to identify and publish new data sets and to create and maintains business intelligence visualizations to support the Investment Research and Client teams
The Associate will play a significant role in the firm's effort to enhance our core data function. The Associate is expected to gain exposure to and have a full understanding of our investment process and to develop an understanding of all parts of the business. The Associate will also be expected to contribute to broader Firm development through participation in specific projects or initiatives, particularly with regards to the wider Central Data Team. Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships is critical to success in this role.
Product Data Management and Analytics- Ensure data is collected and captured within the established deadlines for the assigned investment products. Examples include maintaining dealing terms of investments, updating performance, tax implications, exposures and other key data for products on an ongoing basis.
- Assume responsibility for timely upkeep of critical research data sets, including dealing terms and custom fees.
- Work with investment professionals and develop visualization tools to automate analyses currently being performed manually in spreadsheets.
- Work with the investment asset class & research operations teams to develop policy and framework for maintenance of fund data.
- Identify additional beneficial data sets, as well as process and automation improvements.
- Using visualization tools and available data sources, develop creative and rapid solutions to assist with a variety of custom and ad-hoc requests.
- Ensure the timely update into our internal systems of all key exposure data for our required fund managers.
- Work with our external providers to ensure the collection of exposure data within agreed timelines and accuracy requirements.
- Identify process improvements and collaborate with the investment professionals to ensure any data gaps are actioned.
- Work with the Data Management team to identify areas where visualization tools can be developed to further our data quality efforts and represent the team to develop and test solutions.
- Develop standard reporting templates for the delivery of exposure reporting.
Key responsibilities may be assessed and are subject to change from time to time based on the needs of the business. The individual may be required to work overtime as needed.
Qualifications / Attributes- Intellectually curious and energized by the prospect of solving business-wide operational challenges
- Approximately 1-3 years of experience in investment operations or other high-accuracy, data intensive role
- Familiarity with fund legal documentation, including Private Placement Memorandums and Limited Partnership Agreements preferred
- Demonstrated interest in finance and investment data
- Strong quantitative skills and attention to detail required
- SQL, Python, and/or PowerBI experience is a plus
