Job Description

PIC is recruiting for an Investment Analyst to its Markets Solutions team within the broader Investment department. You will support the team on new Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) transactions, particularly in modelling of assets, construction of Asset Locks and transition of investments from the Schemes assets to PIC's desired investment portfolio. You will also assist in the management of the derivatives (including interest rate, inflation, FX and cross currency basis), government bond and liquidity cash-like portion of PIC's portfolio.

Specific accountabilities assigned to the role of Investment Analyst within the Markets Solutions team:

  • Conduct thorough analysis and produce comprehensive reports on asset and liability mismatches for new PRT transactions.
  • Responsible for assisting hedging programmes and proposing Asset Locks for new PRT transactions.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive and accurate management information reflective of the intended audience on hedging strategy for new PRT transactions.
  • Responsible for assisting in structuring and modelling fixed income and derivatives portfolios.
  • Responsible for assisting in the liquidity analysis of any new PRT transaction.
  • Effectively collaborates with ALM, Origination and Finance on new pension liability transactions to achieve appropriate solutions for PIC's customers.
  • Takes ownership for their own learning and development in both technical (e.g. data analysis and critical judgement) and non-technical (self-insight and relationship management) skills within the Markets Solutions Team.
  • Keeps informed of industry trends, market developments, regulatory changes to the insurance PRT industry by attending industry seminars, reading and sharing relevant published articles.

Experience:

  • On track for a CFA designation or similar professional qualification
  • Experience of designing, implementing hedging strategies for pension funds or insurance companies.
  • Experience in modelling risk exposures associated with pension liabilities.
  • Identification of key market and risk factors within transactions.
  • Experience of working in an investment team of a pension fund, insurance company, investment bank, or a consultancy with a focus on pension liabilities

Knowledge:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of derivatives and hedging instruments used by insurers and pension funds
  • Knowledge of pricing and valuing interest rates and inflation derivatives
  • Basic knowledge of liability discounting of pension schemes
  • Familiarity of the Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) market trends, and transaction structures
