We are recruitingLearning Support Assistantson behalf of a secondary school in Liverpool. This role offers meaningful, hands-on experience supporting children and young people withautism, communication differences, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), sensory needs and learning disabilities.
You will work within asmall class team, providing personalised support to help pupils developemotional regulation, positive behaviour strategies, communication skills and confidence, while promoting positive life choices and engagement with education.
This role startsApril 2026, workingMonday to Friday, term time only, making it ideal for graduates or support professionals seekingrelevant experience before progressing into careers within youth justice, probation, policing or criminal justice services.
Pay: .00 per day
The school iseasily accessible with excellent transport links, and driving is advantageous, withon-site or nearby parking available.
Why this role is ideal for aspiring Behaviour Mentors, Youth Justice Workers or Probation OfficersThis position providesdirect experience working with young people who may present behavioural, emotional or social challenges, giving valuable insight into the early intervention and support systems that can prevent young people from entering the criminal justice system.
You will gain experience in:
Supporting young people usingtrauma-informed and behaviour-focused approaches
Understandingrisk factors, emotional triggers and behavioural responses
Working within amulti-disciplinary team(teachers, therapists and external professionals)
Promotingpositive behaviour, accountability and self-regulation
Supporting pupils to developlife skills, resilience and decision-making
Managing challenging situations withcalm, consistency and professionalism
Many people use this role as astepping stone into careers within youth justice, criminal justice, probation services, policing, social work or safeguarding roles.
What you will be doingSupporting pupils on a1:1 and small-group basis throughout the school day
Helping pupils developpositive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation
Supportingcommunication, independence and life skills
Assisting withpersonal care, feeding or mobility where required(full training provided)
Encouragingpositive engagement in learning and social activities
Working closely withteachers and support professionals to follow individual support plans
Helping pupils remainsafe, calm and engaged during the school day
Yourconsistency, encouragement and supportcan make a genuine difference to a young person's future.
We would love to hear from you if you have:Experience incare, youth work, support work, mentoring or working with vulnerable individuals(paid or voluntary)
A genuine interest incriminal justice, youth justice, probation services or safeguarding
Patience, resilience and strong emotional intelligence
Strong communication skills and the ability tobuild trust and positive relationships
The ability to remaincalm and professional in challenging situations
Willingness to support withpersonal care when required
Youdo not need prior school-based experience. Yourcommitment, empathy and motivation to support young peopleare what matter most.
