Job Description

Interim Head of Financial Planning & Analysis

Location: UK-based (flexible, London preferable)
Duration: 6 months, full-time

I m currently working with a high-profile national organisation that s looking for an experienced Head of Financial Planning & Analysis to join them on an interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key strategic role within a complex, mission-driven environment that s having real impact across the UK.

The Role

You ll be leading on all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, and analysis providing strategic insight, improving reporting, and partnering closely with senior stakeholders to drive performance and ensure effective use of resources.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the month-end process and producing management accounts
  • Leading quarterly forecasts and the annual budgeting process
  • Overseeing cost recovery and monitoring funding gaps across multiple projects
  • Acting as a finance business partner to budget holders and external collaborators
  • Delivering insightful analysis to support decision-making and mitigate risk

This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you ll combine technical excellence with strong communication and business partnering skills.

About You

  • You ll be CCAB-qualified with extensive experience in financial planning, analysis, or business partnering roles.
  • Experience in the public, academic, or not-for-profit sector would be highly beneficial.
  • You ll bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to work both strategically and operationally.

You ll be confident building relationships at all levels, translating complex financial information into clear insights, and leading on process improvements in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
