Job Description
Overview

Interim Contracts Manager - Based in Southampton, hybrid working

Length: 3 months with possible extension

IR35 status: Inside

Rate: £220 per day via an umbrella company

Responsibilities
  • Manage contracts, contractors, and multi-trade teams to deliver planned works on time, within budget, and to high standards
  • Oversee procurement, tendering, and contract compliance in line with council policies
  • Control budgets, forecasts, and expenditure while ensuring value for money
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and statutory requirements including CDM regulations
  • Work closely with housing teams, tenants, and partners to improve service delivery
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and customer satisfaction
  • Lead and develop staff including apprentices through effective management
Skills, experience and knowledge

Essential

  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) or significant contracts/commercial services experience
  • Knowledge of CDM and health & safety (IOSH Level 3 or working towards)
  • Experience managing teams, budgets, and customer-focused services
  • Strong financial, commercial, and project management skills
  • Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle

Desirable

  • Professional qualification (e.g., CIOH, RICS, CIOB)
  • Experience in social housing or public sector property services
