Job Description

Sinclair James is seeking an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a leading UK manufacturing company during a transformative period. In this pivotal role, you will provide strategic financial leadership, overseeing all aspects of financial planning, control, and governance. The CFO will be responsible for managing cash flow, forecasting, and working capital to ensure liquidity and stability. Your expertise will support executive decision-making through strategic insights, identify opportunities for cost efficiencies, optimise margins, and lead key initiatives such as ERP implementation, restructuring, or potential M&A activity. Additionally, you will oversee the finance team, ensuring operational excellence and timely, accurate financial reporting to enhance transparency and accountability across the organisation.

  • Proven experience as CFO, Finance Director, or Group Financial Controller within manufacturing, engineering, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP / IFRS and operational finance best practices.
  • Demonstrated success in cash management, cost reduction strategies, and business turnaround scenarios.
  • Experience collaborating with private equity, family owned, or corporate backed organisations.
  • Qualification as an ACA, ACCA, or CIMA chartered accountant, with a strong commercial and strategic mindset.
  • Ability to operate effectively at board level, whilst maintaining a pragmatic, hands on leadership style.
