Make a Real Difference - Become an Intensive Support Practitioner at Countryview

Are you looking for a rewarding role where no two days are the same? Do you want to work in a vibrant, playful, and supportive environment where children are at the heart of everything you do?

Join Quarriers at Countryview, our specialist short breaks (respite) service for children and young people aged 5-20 with a wide range of complex support needs. This is more than just a care role - it's an opportunity to be part of joyful experiences, meaningful connections, and everyday adventures.

What We Do at Countryview

We provide short breaks to children and young people who may have:

  • Complex medical conditions
  • Physical and learning disabilities
  • Autism and neurodiverse needs
  • Trauma and attachment-based needs
  • Distressed and emotionally driven behaviour

But our service is about more than just support - it's about play, connection, and opportunity.

Your Role

As an Intensive Support Practitioner, you will:

  • Create a warm, safe, and fun environment where children feel respected, understood, and valued
  • Support with personal care, medical procedures, and therapeutic routines (full training provided)
  • Build trusting relationships and respond to children with compassion, especially during times of distress
  • Support children in play-based activities, outings, sensory sessions, and skill-building opportunities
  • Work closely with families and schools to ensure consistency in routines and communication
  • Be a reliable support to families, giving them peace of mind and a well-deserved break

Support Tasks Include:

  • Personal care and emotional support
  • Mealtimes and routines
  • Sensory and play-based activities
  • Trips, outings, and community engagement

Working Pattern

  • 2 x 37.5 hours per week
  • 1 x 15 hours per week
  • Shifts of 7.5 hours (early and late)
  • Includes evenings and weekends on a rolling rota

What You'll Bring

  • SVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People or an HNC in Social Services (you must hold one and be willing to work towards the other)
  • A full UK driving licence is highly desirable
  • Experience working with children and families in a care setting
  • A creative and playful approach
  • Reliability, flexibility, and strong relationship-building skills
  • Confidence in supporting children with a wide range of needs

We also welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds who show strong potential and a passion for care. For example, one of our recent applicants, Isaac, currently working in a warehouse, previously supported care teams through agency work and demonstrated real commitment to the sector. We recognise that the right values and attitude are just as important as formal experience.

What We Offer

  • SVQ qualification opportunities through our accredited centre
  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training
  • Concerts for Carers registration
  • Blue Light Card membership
  • A positive, purpose-driven workplace with a strong team culture
  • The chance to make a real impact in the lives of children and their families

Countryview is a place where children come to laugh, explore, play, and grow - and we're looking for team members who want to do the same.
