Responsibilities
  • Support in the creation and lead on the interpretation of analytics.
  • Have good analytical, technical and communication skills in order to aid the production of accurate & robust statistics & intelligence.
  • Support the organisation by managing the production of robust statutory and internal reports to support organisational decision making.
  • To assist with the production, validation and submission of the Trust's routine data submissions.
  • Assist members of the team in the production and validation of ad hoc or high profile analytics, assisting in the validation of new or amended dashboards.
  • Produce or validate intelligence or dashboards.
  • Identify & respond to variations from local or national trends or external analytics / reports.
  • Provide first line support for BI queries & requests, monitoring and managing the BI mailbox, helpline and other communication methods.
  • Provide statistical/management intelligence and advice to senior staff and managers.
  • Implement and monitor reporting mechanisms to improve management decision making processes.
  • Meet with stakeholders to identify opportunities or issues early for effective action.
  • Take responsibility for any intelligence produced, validated or submitted.
  • Conduct process mapping to inform accurate reporting requirements and aid improvement.
  • Support quality and safety improvement through analysis and guidance on measurement, reporting and data capture.
  • Produce and review performance reports, disseminating to key divisional contacts and advising on anomalies and adverse variances.
  • Liaise with accountants to interpret activity issues affecting financial performance.
  • Obtain divisional agreement and ownership of performance targets by providing capacity and demand information.
  • Update bed models to support ongoing monitoring, scenario planning and service redesign; liaise with the PMO and key leads.
  • Co ordinate consistent reporting of activity, performance, style and formatting with other analysts.
  • Undertake horizon scanning to identify business opportunities and advise the division/Trust accordingly.
  • Contribute to improvement plans through routine reviews and monitoring of performance, providing briefing reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Produce sensitive and confidential data for ad hoc requests, liaising with other departments and outside agencies for tight deadlines.
  • Perform complex patient based analyses from Trust systems to tight deadlines, primarily using the data warehouse.
  • Support the development of the data warehouse for wider use of data/information for intelligence and service line management.
  • Interpret national guidance/definitions and implement changes to the data warehouse in accordance with guidance.
  • Support data quality responsibilities of analytics projects through identification of anomalies, analysis, investigations and audits.
  • Provide analytical advice for initiatives aimed at introducing or changing data collection/analysis practices.
  • Access and compile routine reports and undertake ad hoc analyses for reporting and presentation.
  • Attend and participate in Trust training programmes both within the department and with multi disciplinary audiences.
  • Be conversant with developments and trends in multimedia design and associated technologies, particularly QlikSense.
  • Act as a catalyst within the Trust to develop a data driven culture by providing advice, guidance and support on information management and data quality issues.
  • Assist with adding content to and maintaining the online analytics system.
  • Assist with the design and development of analytics applications alongside Trust staff.
  • Assist with the maintenance of web based material produced by the team and creating new documents.
  • Work on other multimedia projects within the team as requested.
  • Keep up to date with national developments within the NHS and the wider data analytics community.
  • Utilise design software to create media for various projects.
  • Work with end users to assess reporting needs and share with data engineers.
  • Provide training sessions on a group or individual basis as required.
  • Work with other Digital teams to ensure the most up to date datasets and feeds are available via the data warehouse, tables and databases.
  • Resolve problems and issues with analytical reporting.
  • Conduct briefing sessions and assist in provision of training days for use and interpretation of data analytics applications.
  • Document procedures and work closely with the Production & Modernisation Department for ongoing improvement in Trust information.
  • Assist with ongoing support of IT solutions developed within the analytics and assurance department.
  • Support the Trust's data strategy, quality improvement strategies and service line management agenda.
  • Assist with advice and analyses to support operational management and service planning requirements, attending divisional/ corporate meetings as required.
  • Absorb, interpret and understand current data definitions and definitional issues relative to ISNs or new Department of Health definitions.
  • Produce and safeguard sensitive and confidential data for ad hoc requests.
  • Communicate with other departments and outside agencies to meet tight deadlines.
  • Troubleshoot issues regarding data and consistently work toward improving and automating processes.
  • Research and recommend innovative, automated approaches for data analytics reporting.
  • Liaise with the Trusts Database Administrator and other technical leads, where appropriate.
  • Assist with the production of sophisticated models, analytics and forecasts using statistical models, methods and processes.
  • Provide one to one advice and discussion with individual Trust staff requiring guidance on business intelligence data.
  • Assist with analytic training sessions on a group or individual basis.
  • Monitor associated Service Level Agreements and performance against them.
  • Assist with data literacy training to non technical staff within the Trust and external organisations.
  • Promote and train on new data analytics solutions to ensure they are fully utilised within the Trust.
  • Identify efficiencies while considering potential knock on effects to safety, quality and performance.
  • Provide the division/trust with performance reports that account for productivity, quality, income, expenditure, risks & forecasts.
  • Identify data and service quality issues and participate in the development of new metrics to highlight these for resolution.
  • Review the division's or Trust's performance in relation to national and local trends, highlighting and explaining significant variations.
Qualifications
  • Educated to A Level / NVQ Level 3 / BTEC in relevant subjects such as Mathematics, Statistics or similar, or equivalent work knowledge & experience.
  • Evidence of professional and/or personal self development.
Experience
  • Experience in a relevant area or similar role (e.g. an information based role).
  • Experience converting raw data into visual information relevant for its intended audience.
  • Analytical experience.
  • Experience of business intelligence.
  • Experience supporting non information teams and management in the provision and interpretation of information.
  • Experience of validating information.
  • Experience of report & dashboard development.
  • Capturing end user requirements.
  • Experience identifying, managing or communicating data quality issues.
  • Health informatics experience.
  • Experience working in a busy information department.
  • Use of statistics / forecasting.
  • Experience of web based business intelligence reporting software such as QlikSense.
  • Experience of using Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Experience of working with financial / performance software.
  • Experience creating and delivering training programmes & presentations to various levels of staff.
Skills
