Job Description
Contract API Gateway Specialist (Software AG / webMethods / Defence) 
£600 per day (Outside IR35)
Part time 12 month contract (approx. 110 days' effort)
Full Remote Client based in Portsmouth
An excellent long term contract opportunity for an experienced API Gateway Specialist to support a major Defence sector programme. The successful contractor will work remotely, contributing deep technical expertise around Software AG and webMethods technologies, cloud integrations, and secure API design.
Candidates with a strong background in API Gateway technologies (SAG, IBM API Gateway, webMethods) from any sector will be considered. Existing SC Clearance is preferred, though the client may consider sponsoring clearance for an exceptional specialist.
Key Responsibilities- Deploy, configure and maintain Software AG API Gateway solutions
- Support cloud implementations using API Gateways
- Install, configure and maintain a range of webMethods products
- Create and maintain logical and deployment architecture views within SAG
- Design, build, and implement APIs following best practice coding standards
- Ensure secure API connectivity across networks with varying security classifications
- Work with ORDS endpoints and proxying mechanisms via API Gateways
- Leverage Terracotta for distributed caching solutions
- Integrate SOC/SIEM tooling with webMethods platforms
- Support secure API connectivity to backend databases
- Work within Defence grade accreditation and compliance frameworks
- Proven expert level capability in Software AG API Gateways
- Strong experience delivering API solutions in cloud hosted environments
- Deep technical knowledge of webMethods, including installation and maintenance
- Strong understanding of secure API design, connectivity and network segmentation
- Familiarity with Defence, Government or highly secure sector environments (desirable but not essential)
