Job Description
Summary 
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at Nottingham School as a Part Time Instructional Aide. This position plays a vital role in supporting classroom teachers and enhancing the educational experience for students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, possess strong communication skills, and have a desire to work collaboratively in a dynamic learning environment.
Responsibilities- Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom activities.
- Provide one on one or small group support to students, reinforcing lessons and helping with assignments.
- Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teachers as needed.
- Help maintain a positive and organized classroom environment.
- Support students with special needs and adapt learning materials as required.
- Assist with classroom management and ensure a safe learning environment.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the teacher or school administration.
High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or a related field is preferred.
Special education paraprofessionals- must meet one of the following qualifications:
- An associate degree or higher; or
- Completed at least two years of post secondary study; or
- The successful completion of a state or locally developed assessment. Note: Special Education paraprofessionals must also complete at least 20 hours of staff development activities related to their assignment each school year.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping students succeed.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Ability to pass a background check and any required certifications.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate part time hours, including potential after school activities.
