Job Description
Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at Nottingham School as a Part Time Instructional Aide. This position plays a vital role in supporting classroom teachers and enhancing the educational experience for students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, possess strong communication skills, and have a desire to work collaboratively in a dynamic learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom activities.
  • Provide one on one or small group support to students, reinforcing lessons and helping with assignments.
  • Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teachers as needed.
  • Help maintain a positive and organized classroom environment.
  • Support students with special needs and adapt learning materials as required.
  • Assist with classroom management and ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the teacher or school administration.
Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or a related field is preferred.

Special education paraprofessionals
  • must meet one of the following qualifications:
    • An associate degree or higher; or
    • Completed at least two years of post secondary study; or
    • The successful completion of a state or locally developed assessment. Note: Special Education paraprofessionals must also complete at least 20 hours of staff development activities related to their assignment each school year.
Additional Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping students succeed.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
  • Ability to pass a background check and any required certifications.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate part time hours, including potential after school activities.
