Imagine a role where your expertise directly ensures the health and safety of 4.4 million people across the UK. You will be a proactive Inorganic Chemistry Analyst, planning, prioritising, and applying sophisticated science in our Water Quality team. Your day to day responsibilities go beyond the bench, involving complex data interpretation, equipment maintenance, and strategic workload organisation. You will help implement innovative methodologies that set new industry standards and support the professional development of your colleagues. The role operates between 8am and 8pm, with a typical shift from 10am to 8pm, in market leading laboratories expanding to a modern collaborative environment.
Responsibilities- Operate instrumentation and perform analyses in line with the Laboratory Management system.
- Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of chromatographic, spectrophotometric, colourimetric and preparatory equipment.
- Analyse and interpret data, calculate results and complete all laboratory paperwork.
- Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
- Enter data accurately into the Laboratory Information Management System within set timeframes.
- Ensure sample stability and turnaround for the required analysis is met.
- Prepare standards, reagents and quality control samples in accordance with internal procedures.
- Work toward being a competent person under Regulation 16(2)(d)(i) of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 216 (as amended) and pursue continued professional development.
- Maintain good laboratory practice and housekeeping.
- Support method validation when required.
- Participate in the auditing of internal practices to ensure compliance with the management system.
- Existing knowledge of good laboratory practice.
- Relevant academic qualification or scientific subject at NVQ level 3 equivalent or above.
- Working towards full membership of the professional body.
- Excellent numeracy, literacy, computer literacy and laboratory skills for robust analytical practice.

£28,028 per year.
