Job Description

Platinum Group are seeking a highly skilled Electronic Trading Infrastructure Engineer with deep expertise in Solace messaging technologies to join our Capital Markets Practice.

We would engage you on a programme with an Investment banking client to play a key role in delivering and supporting low-latency trading infrastructure that underpins global FX and Fixed Income electronic trading platforms.

This is a hands-on engineering position focused on messaging Middleware performance, connectivity, and observability in a high-performance trading environment.

What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, and support Solace messaging solutions across electronic trading applications, ensuring low latency, high availability, and resilience.

  • Define Solace usage standards and best practices, and partner with development teams to ensure effective adoption.

  • Collaborate closely with network, platform, and application teams to deliver reliable and scalable trading infrastructure.

  • Develop monitoring and alerting frameworks for Solace environments using tools such as Corvil, Wireshark, ITRS Geneos, and custom telemetry stacks.

  • Conduct performance analysis, tuning, and capacity planning for Solace and related messaging layers.

  • Automate infrastructure deployment, health checks, and operational workflows using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

  • Support the full life cycle of market connectivity solutions, including onboarding new trading venues and maintaining connectivity standards.

  • Lead deep-dive investigations and post-incident reviews for market events and platform incidents.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of infrastructure reliability, observability, and automation capabilities.

About You

To be successful, you should bring:

Technical Expertise

  • Proven experience deploying and supporting Solace messaging systems in production, ideally within financial services or electronic trading.

  • Strong knowledge of low-latency networking, TCP/IP, multicast, and performance-sensitive architectures.

  • Hands-on experience with packet capture and analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, Corvil/PICO).

  • Familiarity with FIX protocol, market data, and order routing flows.

  • Proficiency in Scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

  • Working knowledge of Linux environments.

Mindset & Approach

  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced trading environment.

  • Strong communication skills to translate technical insights for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Passion for continuous improvement and technology adoption.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with other messaging Middleware (29West, Tibco, LBM).

  • Exposure to SRE practices (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, Infrastructure as Code).

  • Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus or Grafana.
