Job Description
Information Security Officer - Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Information Security Officer to join our Information, Data and Governance Team, working within our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) department. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week. In return you will receive a competitive salary of £38,220 - £40,777 (gross) per annum. The role is based at our Service Headquarters in Exeter, but there is some flexibility in working locations that can be discussed with the successful candidate.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team which supports the Service in delivering information assurance to the Executive Board. Information Security (Infosec) is a key discipline within the Information and Data Governance Team, part of the wider Digital Data and Technology Department. Infosec sits outside of the ICT team to ensure independent support, advice and assessment is provided.

The role is dynamic and reactive to security events as and when they occur. Technical security assessments are key, ensuring the Service reap the benefits of a security and privacy by design culture. Monitoring and auditing against the Service's baseline control set provides assurance to the board that the Service is robust in its defence against cyber attacks.

This role would suit an individual who enjoys problem solving, helping others, has a strong attention to detail, great communication skills and is confident making decisions around statutory and operational guidance.

This role can be completed largely from home, or any local Service premises, with the expectation that the successful candidate will come to Service Headquarters when required. Currently there is mandatory attendance at a monthly team meeting with the wider Information and Data Governance Function.

The ideal candidate will have a foundational qualification in ICT and demonstrable experience of working within the specialist discipline of information and cyber security. In addition, a working knowledge within the field of data protection will be an advantage.

Looking after our staff and making sure they are happy at work is important to us. As well as a career where you know you are making a difference - there is a range of benefits such as a generous annual leave allowance that come with working for us.
