Job Description

What does it take to become a leading health and social care organisation in the UK?

It takes people who can turn lives around every day - providing encouragement, delivering innovative services and generally improving life for individuals with a learning disability or those affected by drug or alcohol misuse or mental health problems.

But it's not just our front-line teams that make a difference. So do the dedicated professionals who work behind the scenes to support the vital work we do. And that's where you can come in.

We are now looking for an Information Governance Officer to support the delivery of good practice in data protection and the delivery of the Information Governance agenda within Turning Point.

As an Information Governance Officer, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity and confidentiality of our data, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards and supporting our mission to provide high-quality care.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Handle information requests under GDPR, FOI, and other legislation, including monitoring, reporting, and coordinating responses.
  2. Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and documents that facilitate compliance with IG standards and assurance.
  3. Assist in the development, coordination, and support for the NHS DSPT and annual submission, and manage incidents and data breaches recorded in our case management system.
  4. Proactively identify and mitigate information governance risks, ensuring robust data protection practices are in place.
  5. Support the development and delivery of colleague training programmes to enhance data protection awareness and compliance across Turning Point.
The Ideal Candidate
  1. Hold a BCS / ISEB Practitioner Certification in Data Protection (or willing to achieve within set timeframe).
  2. Have knowledge and experience working with the Data Protection Act 2018 / (UK) GDPR, FOI, and familiarity with Information Governance and the NHS DSPT.
  3. Possess strong communication skills to interact effectively at all levels within and outside the organisation, and analytical skills to interpret complex data protection regulations and provide practical solutions.
  4. Ideally, have knowledge of healthcare data and related issues.
  5. Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in all aspects of information governance.
