Job Description
Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Infection Prevention and Control Surveillance and Audit Nurse/Midwife to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team and contribute to the delivery of the planned programme for the prevention and control of infection across NHS Fife.

Key Responsibilities

You will hold a defined area of responsibility for HAI Surveillance within the wider IPC work programme. You will be expected to develop specialist knowledge in surveillance, supported through a postgraduate module, and to build effective working relationships with relevant clinical teams.

Qualifications

You must be a Registered Nurse or Midwife with current NMC registration, educated to degree level, and have knowledge of infection control surveillance-either through completion of, or willingness to work towards, postgraduate modules such as Infection Control Surveillance. A strong knowledge base and understanding of the specialty is essential, including experience in audit, data collection and analysis, and Quality Improvement.

Digital Proficiency

Given the analytical and reporting demands of the role, a high level of digital proficiency is essential. The postholder must be highly skilled in the use of IT systems, including MS Office applications such as Microsoft Excel, and able to work confidently with complex datasets, digital surveillance tools, and reporting platforms.

Teamworking & Communication

One of the key qualities for this post is the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a challenging healthcare environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with evidence of ongoing professional development.

Working Hours & Location

You will be based at Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy but will be required to travel between NHS Fife sites as part of this role. This is a permanent full time post worked Monday to Friday.

Required Legal & Administrative Conditions

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment. Acceptance of the role is contingent upon having the relevant right to work in the United Kingdom. Proof of right to work will be required as part of the pre employment checks.

Salary
