Job Description

Are you an experienced and committed Independent Chair / Independent Reviewing Officer? Our Safeguarding and Review Service is a group of highly skilled workers committed to improving the outcomes for all children subject to Child Protection planning and our Children in Care. We have a role based within our Codsall office, but you will also be required to work across the County on occasions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Strengthen our existing team of Independent Reviewing Officers and Conference Chairs by ensuring that plans for children fully reflect each child's needs, that all planning processes meet regulatory requirements, reflect best practice and maintain a focus on achieving best outcomes for the child.
  • Chair child protection conferences and statutory reviews to ensure that plans are child focused, robust and achievable.
  • Challenge plans that are not progressing or meeting a child's needs, highlight and promote best practice and outcomes for children through the Quality Assurance dispute & resolution process.
  • Work with the Service Leads in the development of best practice and monitoring of quality standards, highlighting themes or deficits in services provided by the Local Authority or external partner agencies.
Qualifications
  • A professional Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant post qualifying experience.
  • Experience of team management within social work.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant childcare legislation and statutory guidance.
  • An unrelenting focus on achieving great outcomes for children and young people, using a solution focused approach to challenge and promote best practice.
  • Ensure the child's voice is heard and central to planning and decision making.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to analyse and evaluate information effectively, collaborate with colleagues and promote respectful/restorative challenge.
