My client, a market-leading multidisciplinary Environmental Consultancy, is searching for a Hydrologist to join their innovative team in Edinburgh.
Applicants should have a strong academic background in Hydrology, Environmental Management, Civil Engineering, or Water Engineering, with experience working for a UK-based Consultancy or Local Authority. Key skills include completing flood risk assessments, hydrological assessments, or hydraulic modelling using Hec-Ras, Flood Modeller, or Tuflow.
It is beneficial for applicants to live locally to attend site visits in flood risk areas. The role requires working from the office a few days per week.
This exciting opportunity allows candidates to join an experienced team working on flood risk, hydrology, and environmental projects for Local Authorities, Water Companies, and Government Bodies.
The responsibilities include:
- Nutrient neutrality assessments
- GIS mapping
- Flood risk assessments
- Hydrological assessments
- Natural flood management
- Re-wilding and habitat management
- Re-wetting farmland and wetland creation
- Surface water management plans
- Large-scale catchment management plans
- Water quality sampling and assessments for rivers
- Pollution incident response
- Flow calculations
- Flood estimation
- Peak surveys and assessments
- Catchment-scale flooding and drainage solutions
- Wetland creation and restoration
- Vole habitat surveys via farmland re-wetting
- Bids and project management for various projects
