Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit 2x 20hours drivers for your HSDU unit.

2 x 20 hours a week permanent post.

The candidate should;

1. To communication throughout the day to wards, clinics and public.

2. Must have a clean drivers licence that allows driver 3.5 ton vehicle

3. To maintain the vehicle by carrying out daily checks that has to be logged, reporting those to the supervisor/deputy manager.

4. Log information in relation to the vehicle that is kept in the office

5. Make sure the vehicle is clean and is filled with fuel.

About us

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. A new Urgent Emergency Care Centre was opened in March 2023. The two-storey development has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity and has provided almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.

Job responsibilities

1. To communication throughout the day to wards, clinics and public.

2. Must have a clean drivers licence that allows driver 3.5 ton vehicle

3. To maintain the vehicle by carrying out daily checks that has to be logged, reporting those to the supervisor/deputy manager.

4. Log information in relation to the vehicle that is kept in the office

5. Make sure the vehicle is clean and is filled with fuel.

6. Carrying out daily checks on tug truck.

7. Driver will have to have external training before use of tug truck

8. Will be expected to use their own judgement when carrying out the role as lone worker. This could include changing times of deliveries to clinics on and off site, Theatres, which could mean cancelling a delivery slot.

9. Plan the events of each day due to adhoc requirements from users

10. Trained on how to use spillage kit when out in the vehicle.

11. Will need to be able to push and pull heavy loads on an off the vehicle

12. Will be trained in cleaning, packing and sterilisation of instruments

13. Preparation for washing contaminated medical devices which include dismantling of complex instrumentation in accordance of manufacturers instructions and HTM guidelines.

14. Inspection of medical devices and other associated equipment for cleanliness, functionability, completeness, assembly and identification against tray specification lists.

15. Wrapping of instrumentation sets and other surgical equipment in accordance with HTM guidelines and HSDU policies and procedures.

Person Specification Driving Experiance
  • UK Driving license
  • No more than 3 points on license.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work any shift.
  • have a tug license
  • GCSE Maths and English
  • Grade C or Above
Experiance
  • Worked in a hospital environment
  • Experience in driving
  • Experience in sterile service
  • Experience driving a tug
