Job Description
Background

Dundee Heritage Trust is a charity responsible for two five star visitor attractions - RRS Discovery and Verdant Works - consistently rated number one and two on Trip Advisor over many years. Key to that success have been our amazing people- even above our unique heritage, they are our key asset. We are now looking for a team player to fill a key role who will fit in with and take a key leadership role in our new "all hands to the deck" - "one team" culture.

Purpose

This is a stand alone role providing the full range of HR support/people activities to leadership team, managers and employees.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Working in partnership with the executive team, develop and deliver the annual People Plan in support of DHT's strategic plan. This plan includes the full range of people activities including employee survey, employee engagement, reward and recognition, health and wellbeing, learning and development, internal communications, EDI, etc.
  • Build trusted relationships with managers, coaching and building their capabilities to deliver through their teams.
  • Provide expert guidance in employee relations matters; this could include sickness absence, disability matters, performance, grievance, discipline, etc.
  • Plan training and development activities across the year, including annual compliance requirements.
  • Deliver recruitment campaigns to ensure DHT attracts the best possible talent
  • Ensure the policies and procedures contained within the Staff Handbook are legally compliant and strategically aligned.
  • Develop and monitor a range of employee metrics to drive data led decision making and measure the effectiveness of people initiatives.
  • Keep up-to-date with employment legislation, sector trends and HR best practice to inform DHT's People Plan/practice.
Person Specification
  • HR advisory experience with exposure to the full range of people activities
  • Up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Ability to work in a stand alone HR role.
  • Ability to plan and organise to short and long term time lines
  • Excellent communications skills written and verbal
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Professional, helpful and confident approach
Desirable
  • Ideally, CIPD Level 5 qualified.
  • Experience of providing HR support in a charity, heritage, third sector organisation.
