HR Officer 
Shercock, Co. Cavan Full-time, Permanent
About the RoleReporting to the Head of HR, the HR Officer will take ownership of HR compliance across the employee lifecycle, ensuring the business remains legally compliant, risk aware, and audit ready at all times.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys detail, structure, and turning legislation into practical, workable HR controls.
Key Responsibilities Immigration, Work Permits & Right-to-Work- Own end to end work permit and immigration compliance across the organisation
- Manage permit applications, renewals, documentation, tracking and expiry monitoring
- Maintain robust right to work verification processes with zero tolerance for lapses
- Liaise with external bodies (e.g. DETE, solicitors, relocation providers)
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits relating to employment eligibility
- Monitor compliance with the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997, including:
- Maximum weekly working hours
- Daily and weekly rest periods
- Rest breaks, night work and Sunday working
- Partner with Operations, Payroll and HR to review time and attendance data
- Identify risks early and support corrective action plans
- Support GDPR compliance across HR processes, including:
- Employee data retention schedules
- Lawful processing and data minimisation
- Access controls and people data governance
- Act as a key HR contact for audits, DSARs and compliance queries
- Maintain high quality, audit ready HR documentation and records
- Support internal audits and external inspections (e.g. WRC, customer audits)
- Ensure statutory and internal compliance steps are completed during onboarding
- Monitor compliance touchpoints across joiners, movers and leavers
- Track and report HR compliance metrics (e.g. permit status, WTD risks, audit findings)
- Proactively identify people risk trends and legislative exposure
- Drive continuous improvement in HR compliance systems, controls and documentation
- 3+ years' experience in HR operations, HR compliance or workforce compliance
- Strong, hands on experience with Irish work permits and immigration processes
- Working knowledge of Irish employment law, particularly working time legislation
- Relevant third level qualification in HR or related discipline
- CIPD qualification (or working towards) is desirable
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong record keeping skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to challenge non compliance constructively
- Proactive, risk aware and solution focused mindset
- Experience in manufacturing, FMCG or other regulated environments is an advantage
