Position: HR Advisor (Temporary, Part-Time)
Location: Bangor, Northern Ireland
Organisation: Ards and North Down Borough Council
Pay: £15.52 per hour - paid weekly
Working Hours
- Monday: 9:00am - 5:00pm (45-minute lunch break)
- Tuesday: 9:00am - 1:00pm
- Wednesday: 9:00am - 5:00pm (45-minute lunch break)
- Thursday: 9:00am - 2:00pm
About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR professional to join the Human Resources & Organisational Development team at Ards and North Down Borough Council. Based in Bangor, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys working within a fast-paced HR environment and delivering efficient support to managers and employees.
The successful applicant will assist with a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment administration, employee relations support, HR systems maintenance, and organisational development activities.
Key Responsibilities
Duties will include:
- Providing day-to-day administrative support across HR and Organisational Development functions, including recruitment coordination, learning and development administration, and employee relations activity.
- Updating and maintaining employee records and HR documentation in line with GDPR and organisational procedures.
- Supporting recruitment campaigns by arranging interviews, issuing offer paperwork, and carrying out pre-employment checks.
- Preparing HR correspondence, reports, statistics, induction material, and probation documentation.
- Acting as a first point of contact for HR enquiries and directing staff to the relevant support where required.
- Managing HR system updates such as annual leave calculations, work pattern changes, and responding to service desk requests.
- Assisting with payroll amendments, absence monitoring documentation, invoice processing, and minute taking during meetings.
- Maintaining training records, supporting work placement initiatives, and contributing to ongoing HR improvement projects.
- Providing additional support to the Office Manager - HR & OD when necessary.
Essential Criteria
To be considered, applicants should have:
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade A-C (or equivalent).
- At least 1 year of administration experience within an HR environment, including:
- Supporting recruitment and HR administration processes.
- Responding to HR queries and signposting appropriately.
- Handling sensitive or challenging situations professionally.
- Using HR databases or HR management systems.
- Taking minutes during formal meetings.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Access to a vehicle for work purposes.
