Job Description

Job Title: HR Advisor

Full time: Monday to Friday 40 hours a week

Salary: £29,000-£34,000

Location: Ipswich and office based

The HR Advisor will act as a key point of contact for managers and employees on-site, providing a comprehensive generalist HR service and supporting day-to-day people matters across the project.

What's involved?

  • Manage a range of ER cases, ensuring timely, accurate advice and support, including meeting attendance, investigations, disciplinary and grievance cases, sickness absence, performance improvement and restructuring activity
  • Coach and guide managers on all aspects of people management and HR processes.
  • Arrange Occupational Health referrals and maintain accurate notes, documentation, and system updates.
  • Produce HR metrics, analyse trends, and support ad-hoc reporting and departmental initiatives.
  • Contribute to HR project work, including salary and bonus review processes, employee communications, and organisational change activity (e.g. lay-offs, redundancies, restructures).
  • Support Learning & Development and early careers activities.
  • Work with the Training & Competency team to identify employee training needs.
  • Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day HR queries.
  • Implement and support Skills, Education, and EDI initiatives aimed at improving recruitment, retention, and community engagement.
  • Process and manage sponsored worker requirements in line with UK employment legislation.

  • CIPD qualification or substantial standalone generalist HR/ER experience.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent organisational and planning capability, ideally within a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on experience leading or supporting employee relations meetings.
  • Solid understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Resilient, proactive, and confident in approach.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to extract and analyse data.
