Housing Sustainment AdvisorLOCATION: PlymouthDURATION:PermanentSALARY: £25,861.56 - £27,120.13HOURS: Full-time, 37.5 (Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm) About the Role We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Housing Sustainment Advisor to deliver a high-quality Intensive Housing Management (IHM) service across Plymouth. This is a community-based role where you will work closely with Housing Officers and support teams to help individuals sustain their tenancies, live independently, and progress toward long-term housing goals. You'll take a person-centred, strengths-based approach, supporting customers with practical housing advice while addressing underlying challenges.Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular home visits to review customer progress and agree support plans
- Support customers to maintain safe, clean, and well-managed accommodation
- Provide guidance on property upkeep and use of household appliances
- Assist with budgeting, income maximisation, and accessing grants/charities
- Support housing-related processes including benefit evidence and housing applications
- Liaise with contractors and attend appointments for property access
- Report and follow up on repairs and maintenance issues
- Facilitate house meetings to encourage engagement and shared responsibility
- Complete risk and needs assessments, working alongside external agencies
- Identify safeguarding concerns and make appropriate referrals
- Maintain accurate case records and contribute to service reviews
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners
- An excellent communicator, able to engage with a wide range of people
- Highly organised with strong time management skills
- Able to work independently and manage a varied workload
- Calm and professional under pressure
- Proactive, solution-focused, and self-motivated
- Emotionally intelligent with strong interpersonal skills
- Experienced in a customer-facing role
- Knowledge of housing legislation and regulations
- Experience working within housing, support, or community services
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Ability to work flexibly across the Plymouth area
