Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 DOE
Position OverviewA warm and welcoming family based in Oxshott is seeking an experienced, hands on Houseman / Property All-Rounder to assist with the upkeep and smooth running of their substantial eight bedroom family home.
This is a varied and rewarding role for a proactive, practical, and technically minded individual who takes pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day maintenance of the property, support the family with a range of household tasks, and assist with driving and animal care duties as required.
The role would suit an energetic and resourceful candidate who enjoys working in a busy private household environment and is happy to take ownership of a broad range of responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Property Maintenance & Household Support
- Managing the general upkeep and presentation of the eight bedroom property to a high standard
- Carrying out basic painting, decorating, DIY, plumbing, and electrical maintenance tasks
- Monitoring the property and proactively identifying maintenance requirements
- Managing and troubleshooting household AV and smart home systems
- Liaising with and overseeing external contractors when required
- Assisting with household projects and ad hoc maintenance tasks
- Overseeing the gardener who attends the property on a weekly basis
- Maintaining the gardens during the remainder of the week
- Monitoring and maintaining irrigation systems
- Assisting with swimming pool maintenance, including cleaning and basic repairs as required
- Supporting general outdoor upkeep to ensure the grounds remain well presented throughout the year
- Feeding the family's three dogs daily
- Caring for the family's chickens, including feeding and cleaning the coop on a weekly basis
- Providing chauffeur services for the family when required
- School runs and transportation of the children, including collections from boarding school
- Driving the family to appointments, events, and social engagements
- Planning efficient routes and ensuring smooth travel logistics
- Assisting with practical household tasks, including assembling furniture, cots, toys, and other household items
- Previous experience working within a private household, estate, or property maintenance role
- Strong practical skills, including basic plumbing, electrical work, painting, decorating, and DIY
- Technically minded with confidence managing AV and household systems
- Experience maintaining gardens, irrigation systems, and swimming pools advantageous
- A proactive, enthusiastic, and hands on approach
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independentlyHighly organised with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working around animals and assisting with their care
- Full clean UK driving licence essential
- Positive attitude and willingness to support wherever required
