Job Description
A part-time opportunity to join the domestic team at Victoria Infirmary, Northwich, and the new Cheshire & Merseyside Surgical Centre.
As a Hospital Domestic / Porter, you will be responsible for cleaning all clinical and non-clinical areas across the main hospital site, including surgical theatres, clinic rooms, waiting rooms, and high risk areas to a high standard. You will also assist with the transfer of patients, equipment, and deliveries between departments.
Responsibilities- Provide and maintain high level and professional cleaning services in all public, patient, staff, and residential areas of the hospital, including theatres and clinical rooms.
- Respond quickly to transfer patients, equipment and goods deliveries between hospital departments, as requested by departmental managers and clinical staff.
- Respond quickly and efficiently to cleaning requests following spillages.
- Deliver specialist cleaning processes for theatres, clinic rooms, patient waiting areas, furnishings, floorings and various surfaces.
- Clean general and patient equipment in accordance with agreed guidance from Infection Control, VIN management and the facilities co-ordinator.
- Complete written schedules of work and weekly stock / linen orders.
- Clean isolation areas and infection areas in accordance with Trust Infection Control Policy.
- Effectively clean all patient areas - clinical and non-clinical.
- Assist in maintaining safe and tidy departmental and public areas of the hospital, including the new paediatric waiting room.
- Report problems with cleanliness as and when they arise to the facilities co-ordinator.
- Dispose of household, confidential and clinical waste in accordance with legislation and Trust policy.
- Maintain and clean manual and electrical cleaning equipment.
- Be aware of the safety of other people's property and belongings.
- Good standard of general education, including Mathematics, English Language & Literacy.
- Experience of working in a healthcare area.
- Experience of working with the general public.
- Excellent team player with a 'can do' attitude.
- Good attendance record.
- Ability to perform a wide range of duties according to the job description.
- Ability to work on your own initiative but also as part of a small and dedicated team.
