Youth Leaders teach young people from all backgrounds vital and life-changing first aid skills. No previous experience needed.
You'll help them build up their confidence, self-discipline, teamwork skills, and have some fun along the way.
We're looking for Youth Helpers and Youth Leaders. You'll start as a Youth Helper and, if you fancy it, you'll have the opportunity to become a Youth Leader, with additional training and experience.
Responsibilities of a Youth Leader- Create a safe, inclusive and open environment where young people can learn life skills, including First Aid.
- Support the delivery of games, activities and sessions.
- Coordinate with your team to ensure young people are safe and supervised.
- Empower and encourage inclusion and participation of all the young people.
- Support the Unit Manager with administration, collecting resources, paperwork, etc.
- Lead, organise and support the preparation and delivery of programme in a fun way.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all young people and adults in the unit.
- Manage the parent/guardian rota.
- Understand and apply all relevant policies, procedures, youth programme, content and role requirements in your unit.
- Complete all necessary training for the Youth Leader role.
All training will be given, so no experience is necessary. The role requires an enhanced DBS disclosure to be completed.
About the Cadet ProgrammeSt John Ambulance Cadets are young people aged within St John Ambulance. The Cadet programme has life saving skills at its heart, with many other opportunities. As a member of a Cadet unit, a young person will have the chance to gain awards, learn first aid and take part in volunteering activities, from events, logistics, communications to more.
The programme covers a wide range of activities and opportunities for young people. Cadets can develop skills and build relationships as a team. They may also participate in activities on a wider level, in regional, national or even international activities with St John.
