Westmorland and Furness Council's Highways and Transport service is looking for an experienced, motivated, and friendly individual to join us as Highways Network Engineer. Responsibilities

• Assist with leading the Furness area Highways team, managing, preparing, designing and processing highway improvement and maintenance projects.
• Undertake inventory collection, surveys, design, specification and data collection and input.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues regarding specifications and standards for highways design and maintenance.
• Advise on application of legislation, regulation, policy and principles to internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Strong communicator with ability to provide technical guidance.
• Significant experience of highway, transportation or construction design.
• Sound knowledge of local government processes and customer engagement.
• Awareness of construction contracts, highway maintenance activities and national design standards.
• Capable of working under pressure and effective team member, driving innovation and motivation throughout the team and service.
• Experience of Winter Maintenance desirable (full training provided).
