FSRI seeks a teacher to deliver foreign language instruction at the high school level. Responsibilities include introducing and reinforcing key concepts in verbal, audible, and written skills, teaching students with significant emotional/behavioral needs in a clinical residential setting, developing and monitoring Individual Education Programs (IEP) per Department of Education regulations, and collaborating with the management team to ensure safety and professional guidance for residents placed through the Department of Children, Youth and Families. This is a part time, year round position.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Teaching or Education
- RI teacher certification for regular or special education
- Knowledge of subject matter in art, health education, science, mathematics, English, and history
- Experience working with children exhibiting behavioral or psychiatric challenges
- Proficiency with medical record, word processing, and database software
- Spanish speaking preferred (compensated)
- Flexible schedule with some evenings
- Excellent multitasking and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Bilingual (ASL) skills compensated 6% above base pay; multilingual skills compensated 8% above base pay
- Current driver's license, reliable transportation, registration and auto insurance
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Travel to and from community locations and office site, including use of walkways, stairs, and elevators
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
- Provide emergency coverage; ratio to programs as needed
- Train and implement de escalation techniques using Handle with Care when necessary
