Job Description
Job Overview

Axcis Education is partnering with a mainstream primary school in Ormskirk to recruit a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) on a temp to permanent basis. The position is full time, Monday to Friday, 27.5 hours per week, with initial supply weeks through Axcis before joining the school permanently.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Support the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored learning activities.
  • Lead small group and individual sessions within the unit.
  • Use Intensive Interaction techniques to support communication development.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Support pupils with sensory, communication, and emotional needs.
Ideal Candidate
  • Holds HLTA status or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of SEND, particularly complex needs.
  • Practical experience using Intensive Interaction.
  • Confident working with pre verbal children.
  • Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Team player capable of taking initiative.
Salary & Benefits

Pay starts from £15.50 per hour and is negotiable based on qualification and experience. An enhanced DBS on the update service is required; Axcis can assist with DBS application if needed.
