We are seeking a skilled and motivated Higher Level Learning Support Assistant to support teaching and learning across the College, with a particular focus on students with Educational, Health and Care Plans.

You will work proactively within the classroom to support learning, deliver targeted interventions and, where appropriate, plan and lead English or Maths learning activities for individuals and small groups. Under the direction of the class tutor, you will be required to contribute to the assessment and monitoring of student progress.

  • Provide targeted intervention strategies to support emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement
  • Support the implementation and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Promote independence, resilience and self-esteem in students while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to assessments, reports and reviews
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support services to ensure inclusive teaching practice
  • Use your initiative while working effectively under the direction of teaching staff

  • A strong understanding of SEND, EHCPs and a range of learning needs
  • Proven experience of delivering or supporting learning interventions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to motivate, engage and support students to become independent learners

You must hold:

  • 5 GCSEs (Grade A-C) including English Language and Maths , or equivalent

Having HLTA Status, or a relevant Level 4/5 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent experience at HLTA level would be an advantage

Experience of working within the Further Education Sector would be a distinct advantage.

Professional Development.

You will receive a comprehensive induction and access to continuous professional development, including training on specific learning needs such as dyslexia, ADHD and autism. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals considering progression into teaching, SEND leadership or wider educational roles.

In return, we offer a warm and welcoming college with an excellent benefits package that includes:

  • 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays and 10 College closure days (pro-rata)
  • Family-friendly policies, including flexible working arrangements
  • A well-respected pension scheme (West Yorkshire Pension Fund with an above average employer contribution)
