Position Overview

Barcelona High School is seeking an inspiring and knowledgeable AP U.S. History and AP U.S. Government & Politics Teacher to join our Humanities Department. This role is ideal for an educator with a passion for American history, politics, and civic education who is committed to fostering critical thinking, debate, and global awareness. The teacher will guide students through complex historical content and encourage them to draw meaningful connections between the past and present.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach AP U.S. History and AP U.S. Government & Politics, adhering to College Board curricula
  • Develop engaging, rigorous lesson plans that emphasize analytical writing, primary source evaluation, and civic literacy
  • Create a classroom culture that values inquiry, open discussion, and diverse perspectives
  • Differentiate instruction to support a range of learners, including ELL and advanced students
  • Prepare students thoroughly for May 2026 AP examinations and other academic benchmarks
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support cross-curricular initiatives
  • Participate in school events, student advising, and community-building activities
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective teaching practices


Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in History, Political Science, Education, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience teaching AP U.S. History and/or AP U.S. Government at the secondary level
  • Strong grasp of College Board frameworks and assessment criteria for both AP courses
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Passion for fostering civic responsibility and historical understanding in young people
  • Legal work authorization for Spain


Preferred:

  • Master's degree in History, Education, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in international or bilingual school environments.
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based learning or project-based teaching approaches.
