Job Overview

BP Rolls Newport is seeking a skilled and motivated Trailer Shop Technician to join our workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining commercial trailer bodies and associated mechanical components to a high standard.

This role requires hands-on experience in trailer body construction, fabrication, and mechanical repairs while ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and assemble trailer bodies and commercial vehicle bodywork according to company specifications.
  • Carry out repairs, modifications, and refurbishments on commercial trailers and vehicle bodies.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on trailer components including brakes, suspension, axles, and running gear.
  • Conduct inspections and fault diagnostics on trailers and workshop equipment.
  • Carry out welding, fabrication, and fitting work where required.
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards and quality control procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organised working environment in the trailer shop.
  • Work collaboratively with the workshop team to meet deadlines and production targets.
Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in trailer body building, vehicle bodywork, or commercial vehicle mechanics.
  • Mechanical and fabrication skills.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs efficiently.
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures in a workshop environment.
  • Proactive team player
