Job Description

Our client, a well-established organisation in Corby, Northamptonshire, is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their dedicated in-house workshop team. This is a permanent role offering competitive salary, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Duties as a HGV Technician will include:
  • Conduct inspections, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles in accordance with Department of Transport standards
  • Diagnose faults and rectify reported driver defects efficiently
  • Complete all required service documentation accurately
  • Perform diagnostic testing and fault-finding on mechanical and electrical systems
  • Road test vehicles to ensure quality and proper repair completion
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT and liaise with external workshops for specialist repairs as needed
  • Attend breakdowns on-site and off-site when required
  • Support workshop operations, including occasional ad-hoc supervisory duties
  • Carry out repairs on associated equipment such as forklifts and workshop machinery
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as an HGV Technician, Commercial Vehicle Technician, or in a similar role
  • City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Motor Vehicle Engineering
  • IRTEC license is advantageous; training can be provided
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Good understanding of Department of Transport compliance and standards
  • HGV licence is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to work independently and within a team framework
