Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles. This role requires a hands-on approach to diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that all vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
Duties
Conduct thorough inspections of HGVs to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on various vehicle systems including engines, brakes, and transmissions.
Utilise power tools, hand tools, and welding equipment to carry out repairs and modifications.
Fabricate parts as necessary to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
Operate forklifts safely for the movement of heavy equipment and materials within the workshop.
Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including parts used and time spent on repairs.
Collaborate with other technicians to troubleshoot complex issues and improve repair processes.
Adhere to health and safety regulations while working in the workshop environment.
Qualifications
Proven experience as an HGV Technician or similar role within the automotive industry.
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose and repair electrical systems.
Experience with heavy lifting is essential due to the nature of the work involved.
Proficiency in using various hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment is required.
A valid forklift licence is preferred but not mandatory; training can be provided.
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in all tasks performed.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
