Key Responsibilities
- Dangerous Goods Transport: Operate commercial vehicles safely, strictly adhering to full ADR regulations and all relevant safety guidelines.
- Deliveries & Collections: Complete scheduled multi-drop deliveries and collections to various commercial, retail and industrial premises.
- Vehicle Compliance: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects immediately to the transport office.
- Manual Handling: Securely fasten all cargo, which may involve the manual handling of gas cylinders or specialised waste containers.
- Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain tachograph records, delivery notes and all required dangerous goods documentation.
- Customer Service: Maintain a professional and courteous approach when dealing with customers and represent BOC Gases positively at all times.
- Health & Safety: Follow all site, company and legal health and safety procedures when loading, transporting and unloading dangerous goods.
- Licence: Valid UK HGV/LGV Class 2 (Cat C) licence.
- Qualifications: Current and in-date Driver Qualification Card (CPC) and Digital Tachograph Card.
- ADR Certification: Must hold a valid ADR certificate covering Class 2 - Gases in Packages.
- Experience: Ideally, a minimum of 3 years holding the relevant licence and at least 180 days of driving experience within the past 2 years.
- Licence Cleanliness: Maximum of 3 penalty points. No active CU80, MS90, CD, DR, DD, IN or TT endorsements due to insurance restrictions.
- Assessment & Checks: Willing to undertake a driving assessment, DBS criminal records check and Drug & Alcohol test.
- Professional Standards: Strong commitment to safety, compliance, customer service and responsible driving.
- Competitive Salary: £46,123.00 per year.
- Work-Life Balance: Typical start times between 06:00 and 07:00, with shift lengths of approximately 8-10 hours.
- Monday to Friday: Regular weekday working pattern, with occasional weekend work.
- Weekend Allowance: Additional allowance payments for weekend working on top of the standard hourly rate.
- Paid Breaks: Breaks are paid in accordance with the applicable company terms.
- Minimum Shift Guarantee: Minimum 6 hours guaranteed per shift.
- Holiday Entitlement: 26 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays, with holiday accrual in line with the applicable employment terms.
- Weekly Pay: Weekly pay with accrued holiday pay.
- Pay Reviews: Yearly pay increases based on length of service and applicable pay awards.
