Health & Social Care Teacher, Birmingham, SEMH School
The Education Network is looking for a passionate Health & Social Care Teacher to join a specialist school in South Birmingham, to teach small classes of students with SEMH needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Health & Social Care Teacher who can make the subject engaging, practical and relevant for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will teach small classes of students who may have struggled within mainstream education, using your subject knowledge and teaching style to build confidence, develop employability skills and help students recognise their potential.

The successful Health & Social Care Teacher will be confident managing behaviour, building positive relationships and adapting lessons to meet different learning needs. Experience working with SEMH students, Alternative Provision or challenging behaviour is highly desirable. This role requires QTS or QTLS.

Job Role:
  • Deliver engaging Health & Social Care lessons to small classes
  • Plan and deliver lessons suited to students with SEMH needs
  • Make learning practical, relevant and accessible
  • Develop students' knowledge and understanding of Health & Social Care
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Adapt teaching to different abilities, needs and engagement levels
  • Manage behaviour calmly and consistently
  • Encourage students to develop confidence and independence
  • Support students with their wider personal and educational development
  • Work closely with colleagues to provide a consistent approach
