Main Duties and Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality Health and Social Care lessons to students within an Alternative Provision setting, ensuring learning is engaging, relevant, and accessible.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs, abilities, and aspirations of learners.
- Teach Health and Social Care qualifications in line with curriculum requirements and awarding body specifications.
- Assess learners' starting points and develop individual learning plans that support progress and achievement.
- Monitor, record, and report on student attendance, engagement, behaviour, progress, and attainment.
- Prepare students for coursework, controlled assessments, and examinations, supporting them to achieve their full potential.
- Differentiate teaching and learning strategies to support students with SEND, SEMH needs, EHCPs, and those who have experienced barriers to education.
- Foster positive relationships with students to promote engagement, confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment where students feel valued and able to succeed.
- Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, SENCOs, support staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to support student outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date assessment records, tracking data, and reports in accordance with school policies.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, supporting continuous improvement and progression.
- Contribute to annual reviews, EHCP meetings, progress reviews, and other meetings relating to student development and attainment.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout all aspects of teaching and learning.
- Support students in developing the knowledge, skills, and understanding required for progression into further education, training, employment, and careers within the health and social care sector.
- Participate in departmental development, curriculum planning, quality assurance activities, staff training, and continuing professional development.
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and deliver Health and Social Care lessons to a high standard.
- Plan and deliver an engaging curriculum that inspires students and promotes achievement.
- Support students to develop subject knowledge, employability skills, communication skills, and an understanding of health and social care professions.
- Maintain high expectations of student behaviour, attendance, effort, and achievement.
- Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform teaching practice.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of learners within an Alternative Provision environment.
- Contribute positively to the wider school community and uphold the school's values and ethos.
- Work proactively to remove barriers to learning and support positive educational outcomes for all students.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
- Experience teaching Health and Social Care at Key Stage 4 and/or Post-16 level.
- Strong understanding of SEND, SEMH, and inclusive teaching practices.
- Excellent classroom management and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage students who may have experienced disruption to their education.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Strong organisational, communication, and teamwork skills.
