The Opportunity

My client is seeking applications for the position of Health & Safety Manager at its cement manufacturing facility in Limerick. This is a key leadership role within the site, responsible for driving best in class health, safety, and welfare standards across a large scale heavy industrial operation.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Plant Manager and will play a central role in shaping and maintaining a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with legislative, corporate, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive awareness, engagement, and continuous improvement in Health, Safety, and Welfare across the site
  • Monitor and interpret developments in Health & Safety legislation, guidance, and standards, ensuring site compliance
  • Conduct regular safety audits and hazard inspections to monitor adherence to safety policies
  • Advise senior management on risk reduction strategies and occupational safety improvements
  • Maintain and report on site and group Health & Safety KPIs
  • Develop and implement accident reduction and prevention programmes
  • Create and deliver annual site safety initiatives aligned with corporate objectives
  • Ensure compliance with corporate life saving rules and annual safety initiatives
  • Investigate accidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions in collaboration with management
  • Coordinate statutory inspection records across relevant departments
  • Deliver toolbox talks, presentations, and transport safety audits
  • Design, coordinate, and deliver health and safety training programmes
  • Maintain and enhance induction programmes for contractors, employees, and visitors
  • Review and update Health & Safety policies and safety statements as required
  • Liaise with external bodies and regulatory authorities, as well as internal group H&S teams
  • Promote strong safety engagement and consultation across all levels of the site

This role will also involve additional duties as required in line with business needs.

About You
  • Degree qualified with a recognised Health & Safety qualification (diploma or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Health & Safety management role, ideally in construction materials, quarrying, or heavy industry
  • Strong understanding of industrial processes and systems
  • Proven leadership ability with a track record of delivering safety performance improvements
  • Experience with ISO 45001 implementation and auditing
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent IT proficiency
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against business objectives
  • Self starter with the ability to take ownership and see initiatives through to completion
