Job Description

Support the day-to-day coordination of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) activities across site operations. The role provides practical assistance, monitoring and basic advice to help ensure safe working practices and legal compliance.

This is a developmental role, with the postholder expected to successfully complete the NEBOSH National General Certificate within 12 months of appointment and progressively build applied workplace competence.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Support implementation of company H&S policies and procedures.
  • Act as first point of contact for routine H&S queries.
  • In conjunction with Area Leaders, assist with general risk assessments, COSHH and task-based assessments.
  • Identify hazards during routine activities and report deficiencies.
  • Follow up on hazard reporting for sustainable fixes and closure.
  • Support tracking of corrective actions.
  • Carry out routine workplace inspections.
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections with Operations.
  • Support audits and compliance checks.
  • Record findings and monitor action close-out.
  • Assist with accident, incident and near-miss reporting.
  • Maintain accident records and investigation documentation.
  • Support investigations under supervision.
  • Support inductions, toolbox talks and refresher training.
  • Maintain training and competence records.
  • Support safety meetings and workforce engagement.
  • Support monitoring of contractor compliance.
  • Review contractor RAMS.
  • Assist with fire safety checks and evacuation drills.
  • Support first aid provision and record keeping.
Key Competences (Qualifications & Experience)
  • Successful completion of NEBOSH National General Certificate within 12 months of appointment (Essential)
  • Actively applying learning into daily H&S activities (Essential)
