Job Description

This is a regional SHE Advisor position supporting social housing, refurbishment, and maintenance projects across a wide Midlands region. You'll work closely with operational teams to drive safety standards, deliver coaching, ensure compliance, and support ongoing cultural improvement.

Description

  • Ensure full compliance with SHE legislation, CDM Regulations, and internal safety frameworks.
  • Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments across refurbishment and social housing sites.
  • Lead incident investigations and deliver root-cause analysis.
  • Review RAMS and safe systems of work, ensuring high-risk activities are properly controlled.
  • Support and enhance ISO 45001 and 14001 management systems.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to site teams, supervisors, subcontractors, and operational leaders.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and behavioural safety initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with site teams, influencing and encouraging safe behaviours.
  • Contribute to pre-construction planning and tender processes with SHE expertise.
  • Liaise with external regulators and stakeholders where required.
  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice across the region.

Profile

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or NEBOSH General with strong construction experience).
  • NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) in Health & Safety.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in construction, social housing, refurbishment, property maintenance, or FM.
  • Excellent working knowledge of CDM, construction practices, and H&S legislation.
  • Strong engagement and communication skills - able to coach, influence, and build trust.
  • Experience using SHE platforms such as Airsweb, Assure, or similar.
  • Desire to develop knowledge under the Building Safety Act 2022 and BSR guidance.
  • Advantageous: Tech IOSH, ISO Auditor qualifications, asbestos awareness (HSG264), PASMA/IPAF familiarity, or retrofit/occupied refurbishment experience.
