Salary: £45,000 to £55,000
Location: London
We have an exciting opportunity to work on a large major civil engineering project for a Tier 1 contractor leading a £1.9m project. This Tier 1 contractor has been appointed to the major civil engineering project on a joint venture basis. The project is well underway, and they now need to recruit a Health & Safety Advisor due to increased workload.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record working with large civil schemes, with experience in heavy civils, tunneling, earthworks, highways, or rail infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Contribute to a culture of "Everyone Home Safe and Healthy Every Day".
- Support and provide information to site teams to ensure compliance with all requirements stipulated in the construction plans.
- Follow up on outcomes from inspections carried out on HMJV sites.
- Help develop and implement health, safety, and wellbeing campaigns and improvement plans in agreement with the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Manager.
- Support investigations of near misses, close calls, and other incidents on project sites.
- Assist the project team by identifying training needs.
- Assist in producing health and safety plans, procedures, and associated documentation, and check compliance.
- Assist in obtaining any necessary permits, consents, or exemptions.
- Ensure control and proper storage of health and safety documentation.
- Maintain records to ensure compliance with legislation, HMJV procedures, and contract requirements.
- Provide reports, presentations, and information as directed by the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Manager.
- Assist in developing plans and processes to support work delivery.
- Support the development of site and office inductions.
- Manage and escalate issues to the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Manager as necessary.
- Offer guidance, direction, and instruction to colleagues as required.
- Disseminate information issued by HMJV to relevant employees.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Sound knowledge of tunnel construction methods.
- Relevant qualification in health and safety or previous experience in a similar role.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to manage tight deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize workload in a busy environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
