Job Description

Position: Headteacher

Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire

Hours: 40 hours per week, term time, permanent position

Salary Details: Up to £60,000 per annum DOE

Oakwood school in Shrewsbury is looking for an experienced Headteacher to lead our small, dedicated SEMH setting school.

Oakwood School is an independent specialist provision which provides high quality, personalised education for young people aged 5 to 16 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and who are at significant risk. Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role.
  • A strong understanding of SEMH needs and/or alternative provision.
  • A track record of improving outcomes for pupils.
  • The ability to lead, inspire, and develop staff teams.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A clear vision for school improvement and high standards.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a child-centred approach.
  • Experience managing budgets, school operations and resources efficiently.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of staff, children and young people.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) - desirable.
