The Merrion Hotel is looking for an experienced and guest-focused Head Porter to join our Concierge team.

Reporting to the Director of Guest Relations, Head Concierge and Assistant Head Concierge, the Head Porter plays an important role in ensuring our guests receive a warm, professional and seamless experience from the moment they arrive.

The Role

As Head Porter, you will lead the Porter team and oversee the smooth running of the hotel's front hall and entrance. You will be responsible for coordinating daily porter duties while providing attentive and personalised service to our guests in line with The Merrion's service standards and LQA standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome all guests to The Merrion with a warm, professional and helpful approach.
  • Lead and coordinate the Porter team, allocating tasks and ensuring daily duties are completed efficiently.
  • Deliver and collect guest luggage to and from bedrooms in accordance with LQA standards.
  • Ensure all guest luggage is correctly tagged, stored securely and delivered to the appropriate location in a timely manner.
  • Manage the parking and retrieval of guest cars from the hotel car park and external parking spaces.
  • Keep the front hall and entrance areas tidy, welcoming and well presented.
  • Deliver messages, newspapers and special deliveries to guest bedrooms and public areas.
  • Assist guests with bookings and reservations, including taxis, theatres, flights, concerts and restaurants.
  • Work closely with the Concierge and Reception teams to ensure a smooth guest experience.
  • Anticipate guest needs and provide prompt, caring and personalised assistance.
  • Promote hotel products and maximise opportunities to support hotel sales.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues and management.
  • Ensure hotel policies, procedures and health and safety standards are followed.
  • Identify and report any maintenance or workplace safety issues.
  • Be flexible and assist other areas of the hotel in response to guest and business needs.
