Your role in elevating the East Midlands

You will oversee the management and delivery of our portfolio of programmes and projects, ensuring that all initiatives align with our strategic objectives. You will make sure they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

Based in the newly created Corporate Affairs and Portfolio Delivery Directorate, you will build effective working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders, as well as working closely with programme and project leads to ensure there is effective governance, risks are managed and resources allocated effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic management of our portfolio, developing and implement strategic direction, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to programme and project managers.
  • Establishing and maintaining robust governance frameworks to ensure compliance with organisational policies and standards and oversight of the development and implementation of governance processes and procedures.
  • Identifying, assessing, and managing risks and issues across the portfolio, developing and implementing mitigation strategies to minimise impact on programme and project delivery.
  • Ensuring optimal allocation and utilisation of resources across the portfolio, including developing strategies for resource planning and management to support programme and project delivery.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the performance of programmes and projects within the portfolio, identifying areas for improvement including using AI and Power BI as tools to help predict, prioritise, automate and convert raw data into visually engaging material.

Your profile:

  • Extensive experience in portfolio management, programme management, and project management.
  • Demonstrable experience of overseeing complex projects and programmes to a high standard, including taking accountability for planning, structuring, leading and execution.
  • Able to utilise a range of methodologies to ensure EMCCA delivers the best results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a robustly strategic mindset.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively at senior levels.
  • Strong understanding of governance frameworks, risk management, and resource allocation.
  • Proven record of building and maintaining effective working relationships and collaboration across teams and stakeholders to drive performance improvements.
  • Experience of providing strategic advice and guidance on the programme management and supporting methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Experience of using AI and Power of BI as tools to help predict, prioritise, automate and convert raw data into visually engaging material.
  • Educated to degree level or significant equivalent experience.
