Job Description
# Head of Talent Enable BlueDot to scale the AI safety workforce by hiring 20 exceptional people over the next 12 months. We're a nonprofit startup building the workforce that protects humanity .Since 2022, we've trained over 6,000 people in AI safety and biosecurity. Our alumni work at Anthropic, DeepMind, the UK AI Safety Institute, and dozens of other organisations shaping how transformative technologies affect the world. We're a small team based in London, expanding to San Francisco in Q2 2026. We raised $25M in 2025. Why this role matters We're about to grow fast. We've doubled over the past 4 months. Over the next 12 months, we'll scale from 7 to 25 people. At this size and pace, every hire we make will directly shape our culture and the work we can do. A bad hire will cost us months. A great hire will scale the number of people we can train and place into the field. The challenge is that top talent don't apply for jobs. They need to be found, recruited and inspired to join. Our current hiring process takes over 3 months and sometimes results in zero hires. You'll change that by owning the entire hiring function, from sourcing to closing, at a pace that matches the urgency of our mission. What you'll do Find exceptional people Source the best people relentlessly and creatively Build warm relationships with exceptional people even before we have a role open, so that when we do, you already know who to call Run a fast, rigorous hiring process Design and own the end-to-end hiring process (application forms, work tests, interviews, and work trials) that's so good, candidates rave about it even if they don't get the job Bring the median time from first contact to offer down from 12 to 4 weeks Close the best candidates Understand what drives each candidate and tailor the pitch accordingly, so they realise a fast, mission-driven, talent-dense nonprofit is the best place for them. When we decide someone is our top pick, you make sure we get them. Build BlueDot's employer brand Make sure the world knows that BlueDot is one of the most exciting places to work in AI safety Keep BlueDot top of mind for exceptional talent by building relationships with them and working with the team on content and events About youWe're looking for someone sharp and high-agency who's energised to help scale a mission-driven startup. You might be a great fit if you: Have good taste for talent. You can quickly and accurately tell who will thrive in a high-agency, mission-driven startup, and who won't. Source relentlessly. You don't sit back and wait for applications. You know (or learn fast) the AI safety talent landscape and can pinpoint where our ideal candidates live. Execute at speed. You feel a visceral urgency to fill roles. Every day spent risks losing an exceptional candidate and slows down BlueDot's work. You iterate quickly on pitches, strategies, and processes. Care about the mission. You understand why AI safety and pandemic preparedness matter, and you're keen to learn more. You know that scaling BlueDot is essential for helping us protect humanity. Can sell the mission. You understand what motivates different types of people and how to pitch BlueDot as their best option. You're persuasive, charismatic and credible. We encourage speculative applications - most strong candidates won't meet all these criteria! What we offer Massive impact: Every exceptional person you hire directly impacts BlueDot's ability to scale the AI safety workforce. San Francisco-based role: This is an in-person role in our new SF office starting in Q2 2026. US visa sponsorship available.
