ID Recruitment are working with a leading electrical contracting companywho provide national lighting solutions throughout Ireland to recruit a Head ofSupply Chain.
This key leadership role which will report to the Chief OperationsOfficer will head the company's Supply Chain and will be responsible for ensuringthat the procurement, production, inventory, distribution, and logisticsfunctions work in tandem to meet business goals, including cost efficiency,timely delivery, and quality control. The manager will work closely withsuppliers, internal teams, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operationsacross the supply chain. The work environment is primarily office-based, withoccasional travel to supplier sites, warehouses, or project locations in a fastpaced, deadline driven environment that requires strong multitasking andprioritisation skills.
Main Duties and Responsibilities 1. Procurement & SupplierManagement:- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers toensure a consistent supply of quality materials.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms withsuppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance, addressing issuesrelated to quality, delivery times, or compliance.
- Evaluate potential new suppliers based on cost,quality, and reliability.
- Oversee and optimise inventory levels to avoid excessstock or shortages.
- Implement strategies to improve inventory turnover andreduce carrying costs.
- Manage the transportation of raw materials andfinished goods, ensuring timely deliveries to customers or project sites.
- Work with logistics partners to optimise routes,reduce shipping costs, and enhance delivery efficiency.
- Address any issues related to shipping, customsclearance, or regulatory compliance.
- Work with cross functional teams to develop accuratedemand forecasts.
- Align supply chain processes with forecasted demandsto ensure adequate production schedules and timely deliveries.
- Continuously seek opportunities to reduce costs acrossthe supply chain while maintaining quality.
- Conduct cost-benefit analysis for different suppliers,logistics methods, and inventory strategies.
- Ensure that all processes are compliant with companybudgets and financial goals.
- Ensure that all materials and processes comply withindustry standards and government regulations.
- Implement quality control measures across the supplychain to maintain product standards.
- Work with the quality team to address any qualityissues or product defects.
- Lead, train, and develop the supply chain team toensure a high-performance culture.
- Provide guidance and support to team members to helpthem achieve departmental objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams includingengineering, production, and sales.
- Track key supply chain metrics (KPIs) such as leadtimes, costs, inventory turnover, supplier performance and on-time deliveryrates.
- Prepare regular reports for senior managementhighlighting supply chain performance and opportunities for improvement.
- Use data analytics to make informed decisions onprocurement, inventory, and logistics strategies.
- Education:Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, BusinessAdministration, or a related field.
- Experience:10+ years of experience in supply chain management
- Certifications:APICS, CSCP, or Lean Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
- StrongNegotiation Skills: Ability to effectively negotiate with suppliers andlogistics partners.
- AnalyticalThinking: Ability to analyse data, forecast demand, and make decisions based ondata insights.
- Problem-Solving:Strong problem-solving skills to address supply chain disruptions and improveprocesses.
- Leadership& Communication: Strong leadership skills to manage teams and communicateeffectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- TechnicalProficiency: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and supply chainmanagement software.
- Understandingof Public Lighting Projects: Familiarity with the specific requirements of publiclighting systems, including timelines, safety standards, and environmentalconsiderations.
