Your Role as Head of Service: Family Assessment

  • To assist the Service Managers and Registered Managers in providing the vision, leadership and strategic direction to drive the Organisation towards its goal of becoming a market leader within the independent sector in the provision of Family Assessment and Support Services.
  • To take ultimate executive responsibility for the day to day operational and clinical performance of all activities within your allocated service.
  • To develop a culture among all existing and future employees to feel able and empowered, to take personal responsibility and accountability, and to understand and commit themselves to the delivery of high-quality services.
  • To ensure that a Quality Assured high standard of service provision is achieved across all the services.
  • To encourage and develop formal and informal feedback to inform the development of services and support continuous service improvement
  • To direct and manage all the operations of the service in an effective, efficient, governance-compliant, commercial manner, consistent with set targets.
  • To work with other Heads of Services, Service Managers Registered Managers and Social work colleagues in the organisation.
  • To support, develop, supervise and appraise the Service Managers, leading by example.
  • To support and facilitate good quality family assessments.
  • To work with and develop strong external relationships, at all levels, with local authorities, the voluntary sector, community health organisations, solicitors and family Law practitioners, relevant education providers, independent sector and private sector employees and the general public

Our Ideal Candidate should:

  • Hold at minimum a Level 3 in Children and Young Peoples Workforce Diploma (or equivalent).
  • Either hold or be committed to completing their Level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management for health & social care children & young people services.
  • Have a minimum two years' experience working in Family Assessment or a similar field.
  • Experience of working with Ofsted or have the knowledge of legislation and Ofsted requirements.
  • Experience of managing a team/service. Prioritise the safety and well-being of children at all times.
  • Have experience in high challenging, high supportive environment.
  • Experienced and confident in safeguarding and creating a stable environment.
  • Have experience of leading and motivating a staff team. Self-motivated and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to apply transferable skills from relevant experience.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Remain calm under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, effective relationships with children, parents, and professionals.
