Job Description

The Head of Science plays a pivotal role in leading and managing the science department to ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and achievement. This role involves strategic leadership, team management, and the development of a strong science curriculum. Our department is made up of a team of enthusiastic and dedicated teachers who are committed to providing high-quality education and inspiring students to pursue science throughout their school career and beyond. As the Head of Subject, you will have the opportunity to work in great facilities, teach a diverse student body, and collaborate with other departments to instil a love of science into our students.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality, engaging science education across all key stages. You will work closely with other heads of department to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to teaching and learning and will collaborate with external partners to build relationships and develop programs that extend beyond the classroom.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of the sciences and a passion for sharing your knowledge with others. You will need to be an excellent communicator and have strong leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to motivate and inspire others.

We are open to applications from teachers of all scientific disciplines; however, we would be particularly interested in applications from Physics and Chemistry specialists who can teach across the age and ability range up to KS5.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. This post falls within the scope of regulated activity. Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS with list checks (and other relevant checks). It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity with children.
