At Velstar, we build high-performance commerce experiences for ambitious brands. As we continue to scale, we're looking for a Head of Projects & Delivery to lead how work gets delivered across the business, efficiently, profitably, and with happy clients at the end of it.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of delivery excellence, people leadership, and commercial thinking.
The roleReporting into the Group Operations Director, you'll own delivery across all tech stacks, projects, retainers and work packages. You'll bring structure, clarity and confidence to our delivery operation, setting standards, supporting teams, and making sure projects land on time, on budget and to spec.
You'll balance strategic oversight with hands on leadership, acting as an escalation point when things get complex and a steady presence for both clients and internal teams.
What you'll be doingOwning the successful delivery of all client work across the agency
Leading, coaching and developing our Project Managers and Delivery Managers
Embedding best practice delivery processes (hybrid agile / waterfall) that actually work in the real world
Maintaining visibility of project health, risks, budgets and resourcing
Partnering closely with Development, Accounts and Senior Leadership to align delivery with commercial goals
Taking full ownership of the Projects & Delivery budget, including team costs and third party spend
Supporting key client relationships, escalations and major delivery milestones
Driving continuous improvement in how we plan, forecast, report and deliver
You're an experienced delivery leader who's comfortable owning outcomes and making decisions.
You'll likely have:
Proven experience leading project or delivery teams in a digital, tech or agency environment
Strong commercial awareness, budgets, forecasting, utilisation and profitability make sense to you
Confidence managing senior stakeholders and high value client accounts
A calm, pragmatic approach to problem solving and escalation
Experience embedding delivery processes across multiple teams or disciplines
A people first mindset with high standards and clear expectations
Hybrid working (minimum 3 days per week in our Liverpool or Leeds office)
Flexi time across a 37.5 hour working week
